Suppliers can display their own company domain as the sender for email notifications to their customers. This may be preferred when suppliers want to build trust and have more control over their communications.
To verify your email address and configure DNS records for notifications:
Step 1: Identify Your Domain Registrar
Before you begin, locate your domain registrar - the service where you purchased your domain name. Here’s how:
- Visit a domain identifier like who.is.
- Enter your domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com).
- Look for the Registrar section to find the company managing your domain.
Some common registrars include GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, and Cloudflare.
Step 2: Log in to Your Domain Registrar
- Go to your registrar’s website and log in with your credentials.
- Navigate to the DNS Management or Domain Settings section.
Step 3: Locate DNS Settings
In the DNS management area, look for options labeled:
- Manage DNS
- Advanced DNS Settings
- Name Server Settings
Step 4: Add New DNS Records
Using the information provided on the Settings > Notifications > Customizations tab in the platform, follow these steps to add the DNS records:
- Enter the email address you would like to use as the sender of notifications to your buyers
- Click save, you will see the required information for your DNS configuration
On your DNS registrar:
- Find the option to Add New Record or Edit DNS Records.
- For each record type listed in the table (CNAME, TXT), add the following details:
- Type: Select the record type (e.g., CNAME, TXT).
- Host: Enter the value from the Host column in the table.
- Value: Copy and paste the corresponding value from the Value column in the table.
- TTL: Use the default value or enter 3600 seconds if required.
- Save your changes for each record.
Example:
From the Notifications > Customizations screen:
Type |
Host |
Value |
CNAME |
em2520.40seas.com |
u32195192.wl193.sendgrid.net |
CNAME |
s1._domainkey.40seas.com |
s1.domainkey.u32195192.wl193.sendgrid.net |
TXT |
_dmarc.40seas.com |
v=DMARC1; p=none; |
Step 5: Verify DNS Records
- Return to the Notifications > Customizations tab in your platform.
- Click Verify next to your email address.
- Wait for the verification process to complete. You’ll receive confirmation once the DNS records are correctly configured.
Keep in mind that DNS changes may take a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate globally. Once fully propagated, the email notifications should be sent from your company domain.
By following these steps, you’ll configure your DNS records successfully, allowing your email notifications to use your customized sender address for improved brand recognition and engagement.
